Two New Hospitals In The Pipeline

PASIR GUDANG: THE state government is planning to have two more government hospitals built in the Iskandar region.

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said this is due to overcrowding in government hospitals in the Iskandar region and Johor Baru.

“We have three government hospitals in the Iskandar region which are running at maximum capacity, while the number of patients seeking treatment is increasing,” said Khaled at the launch of the Pasir Gudang KPJ Specialist Hospital here.

The Pasir Gudang KPJ Specialist Hospital is KPJ Healthcare Bhd’s third hospital in the state.

The other two are KPJ Johor Specialist Hospital and Puteri Specialist Hospital.

He said the proposal for one of the new government hospitals to be built in Tampoi on land belonging to the Health Ministry was brought forward to the federal government recently.

“We are eyeing the land for the development of the new hospital which will most likely be called Sultanah Aminah II hospital,” he said.

Khaled added the other hospital will be in Pasir Gudang as the population in the area has increased in the recent years.
