Healthcare Professionals In Asia Pacific Are Now Well-equipped To Improve Patient Safety With Honeywell’s New Apple Sled Technology

Singapore – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today announced the new industry leading Captuvo SL22h and SL42h enterprise sleds, which have been specifically designed for the medical industry, are now available to healthcare professionals across Asia Pacific.

The new sleds are an expansion of Honeywell’s successful Captuvo line of encasements for Apple devices and they equip iPod touch (5th generation) and iPhone (5, 5c and 5s) devices with the power of barcode data collection to increase productivity in the healthcare environment. By consolidating functions on one device and providing quick access to medical records, drug information, and instant communication with physicians and co-workers, the Captuvo SL22h/42h empower healthcare professions to make better and faster decisions. According to a study by the Wood Johnson Foundation, nurses waste as much as 60 minutes of each day tracking down physicians for a response.

“With a growing demand in Asia Pacific for quality healthcare, hospitals and other healthcare organizations in the region are increasingly looking to new applications such as mobile nursing system to improve patient safety, satisfaction and healthcare efficiency,” said Lynn Huang, APAC Head of Marketing & Strategy, Honeywell Scanning & Mobility. “It is estimated that nearly four out of 10 mobile phone users in Asia Pacific have Apple devices. Honeywell’s Captuvo SL22h and SL42h have been designed to support the growing preference and adoption of Apple devices in the healthcare applications in the region. The Captuvo SL22h and SL42h merge the easy-to-use touch screen Apple user interface experience with industryleading barcode technology. This will help improve healthcare industry efficiency by enabling nurses, doctors, and other clinicians to concentrate on patient care while making faster and more informed decisions.”

The SL22h and SL42h sleds are lightweight and have a compact design that reduces user fatigue by offering single-handed functionality for clinical staff performing a variety of tasks, including medication administration, specimen collection and remote patient monitoring. Its purpose-built protective housing is designed to withstand multiple 4-foot drops, offers critical screen protection and provides a reliable solution for data collection in rigorous healthcare settings. And a disinfectant-ready housing allows healthcare professionals to regularly clean the device minimizing the risk of spreading infectious diseases.

Equipped with Honeywell’s Adaptus™ 6.0 imaging technology, the Captuvo SL22h and SL42h offer aggressive linear and 2D scanning – reducing the challenges of reading high density and poor quality barcodes often found in healthcare environments. To ensure ‘round the clock’ use, these new healthcare-ready sleds come with a hot-swappable and user replaceable battery to eliminate downtime and the need to recharge the device mid-shift.
