Qardio (San Francisco, CA) received FDA approval and is making its QardioArm blood pressure cuff available in U.S., Europe, and Canada. The device wirelessly interfaces with a smartphone or tablet (currently only iOS devices) and doesn’t have any controls of its own, relying completely on the device it’s paired with to operate and display readings.
It’s being sold for $109 or €109, depending on your currency, and the app is available to download for free from the Apple iTunes store. The app provides historical blood pressure tracking, displaying one’s chart against the World Health Organization scale. The same data can be automatically shared with one’s doctor as well as family or caretakers that are keen to keep a close eye on the readings.
