New Compact Gantry For Proteusone Proton Therapy System

IBA (Ion Beam Applications) out of Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium received FDA clearance for its Compact Gantry Beam Line that can be integrated with the company’s Proteus One proton therapy system. The IBA system is a relatively compact proton accelerator and treatment room meant to save on the high cost and space compared to other proton therapy systems. The compact gantry can get patients into treatment angles up to 220° while allowing for smaller treatment rooms and a shorter installation time. The company hopes that the new gantry will make the entire system considerably more affordable to hospitals thinking of getting a proton therapy system of their own.
