Olympus has released its new DIEGO ELITE Multidebrider, a system for performing minimally invasive ENT surgeries that aims to minimize the number of instruments that are used in a procedure. Typically, a variety of blades are used to work on tissue and to control bleeding, but each may require its own tools to operate. The DIEGO ELITE allows all such blades to operate on one platform.
The new system is the only one that offers both monopolar and bipolar energy blades for hemostasis and a variety of shavers, all compatible on the single platform. Once the appropriate blade is selected and plugged in, the system automatically recognizes it and defaults to the correct settings on the control unit for that blade.
Procedures powered by the Olympus DIEGO ELITE Multidebrider offer significantly shorter surgery times compared to those performed using standard blades. Devices with bipolar energy have been shown to reduce bleeding and expedite operating times by as much as 12%, as the average procedure time during the study dropped from 101.4 minutes to 88.9 minutes. In addition, compared to its predecessor, the DIEGO ELITE offers improved coagulation performance and further expedites procedures, delivering 27% faster tissue removal than previous models.
The Olympus DIEGO ELITE Multidebrider further expedites surgeries and procedural efficiency with features such as a toggle stop to quickly open or close the blade window, dedicated suction along with a convenient bulb for easy de-clogging during the procedure, choice of ergonomic hand pieces suited to physician preference, and a blade ID feature that ensures every time a new blade is plugged in, the device will default to the recommended setting for that blade.
