IF-EdgeMasterHOB, the advanced optical 3D cutting edge measurement device from Alicona, is designed to measure discrete teeth of hob cutters. The system is based on Focus-Variation technology. It has a large working distance which enables flexible positioning and thus allows easy access to individual teeth. Additional applications of the IF-EdgeMasterHOB include automatic comparison to correspondent CAD data and wear measurement.

Users can determine the hobs´ angles and radii at the tooth, tooth flank and also on the tooth tip. In fact, small angled and radii can be measured, irrespective of material, type, size and surface finish. Users can achieve high resolution measurements even under extreme conditions like vibrations, temperature fluctuations, ambient light, etc.
