FLASH POINT TESTING USING PMA 5 FROM ANTON PAAR

The PMA 5 automatic flash-point tester is designed for determining petroleum products, such as diesel, engine oil, biodiesel, turbine fuel, turbine oil, jet fuel, paint, varnish, lube oil, mastics, etc. The flash-point determination of petroleum products is done using several methods.

Method A is used for determining homogeneous liquids such as paints, vanishes, new lubricating oils and distillate fuels; method B for lubricating oils, residual fuel oils, surface-film building petroleum liquids, mixtures of petroleum liquids and solids, and liquids with a viscosity greater than 5.5 cSt at +40°C;and method C:for biodiesel. In the latter method, electronic flash point detection is needed.
