Withings, the French connected-health company that’s famous for smart blood pressure cuffs and weight scales, just announced the Activité, a new cutting edge fitness tracking watch with a stunning design fit for formal wear.

In their press release, CEO Cedric Hutchings commented on the inspiration for the device: “The Activité is forged with the quintessential ‘French Touch’ – the art of mixing design and style, inspirations and eras, traditions and innovations to create a 21st century timepiece that connect us to the time and the universe around us as well as our bodies natural rhythms.” The Activité was designed in Paris and is being produced in Switzerland.

This fashionably classy smartwatch is able to monitor activity, estimate calories burned, monitor and analyze sleep quality, all of which can be tracked using the Withings Health Mate app. There is a vibrating alarm to wake the wearer, and simple taps enable the user to change between modes. Time accuracy will be in check through Connected Movement electronic correction system and current time will automatically change when traveling between time zones thanks to Bluetooth connectivity to iOS devices. The Activité is powered through standard watch batteries said to provide a year of run time, and is water resistant so no need to worry when showering or swimming.

The Activité should be available from Withings.com in August of this year. Consumers will have a choice between black and silver and the price is estimated to be $390.
