Boston Scientific has announced it’s releasing the POLARIS Imaging System, a device used with the company’s intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) catheters. It’s designed for use with the company’s existing coronary, peripheral, and intra-cardiac catheters, as well as upcoming fractional flow reserve (FFR) wire and new IVUS catheters that Boston Sci expects to release soon.

The company aimed to make the POLARIS more intuitive to use than previous generation IVUS systems, helping shorten procedure times, while assisting with image interpretation. The system has received both FDA clearance and CE Mark approval and has already been used in a number of clinics in the US. and Europe.

Boston Scientific will offer customers an opportunity to upgrade their existing iLab System to the state-of-the-art POLARIS System.
