ERBE HybridKnife - Electrosurgical and waterjet surgery technologies combined in one instrument

The HybridKnife is a new ERBE instrument for the surgical treatment of early carcinomas by endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). By combining an electrosurgical electrode with a waterjet noozle this multifunctional probe could perform all four working steps of an ESD which inclusive of marking, elevation, incision/ dissection and coagulation without switching between instruments.

The electrosurgical function

Marking, incision/dissection and coagulation is performed with the electrosurgical tip, which varies in length and is suitable for use in the esophagus, stomach and colon.

The waterjet function

The mucosal elevation is carried out with the waterjet function.

VIO® GI-Workstation

Apart from ESD and EMR, the fully equipped GI workstation provides further areas of application in the gastrointestinal tract. We recommend the VIO 200 D with additional modes for coagulation of bleeding. The optional APC 2 module (Argon Plasma Coagulation) allows for non-contact coagulation of selective and surface bleeding.

The ERBEJET® 2 provides quick and safe mucosal elevation for endoscopic resection. And the EIP 2 endoscopic irrigation pump ensures a clear view of the target area.

Significant saving of time and therefore of costs

As no change of instruments is required during ESD procedures ERBE HybridKnife rerduces operating times and therefore costs. Previously, it was necessary to switch between an injection needle and an ESD knife, but with HybridKnife the users can work using a single instrument

The advantages of the HybridKnife for ESD

No change of instrument necessary, thus shorter operating times
Particularly fast mucosa elevation
Considerably larger fluid cushion than one created by conventional needle injection
Elevation medium can be replenished quickly at any time
Waterjet pressure can be adjusted depending on lesion, tissue layer and area of application
HybridKnife can be used in any standard endoscope
