Evermind Keeps a Vigilant Eye on Elderly Living Alone

These days the elderly are doing their best to remain independent at home, going about their lives and enjoying retirement while not being stuck in a nursing home. It can be difficult to keep an eye on one’s parents who are living alone at home, and calling all the time to check in can be intrusive. Now there’s a new product called Evermind that helps to automatically keep tabs on the elderly by tracking when they use small appliances at home.

Say your Mom makes coffee every morning around 8 am. You simply plug in an Evermind device into the power socket where the coffee maker is connected and setup an alarm to give you notice if the coffee maker is not used as usual. If an alarm is raised, you’ll receive a text message or other notification depending on your preferences.

The system costs $200 for the initial package that includes three sensors, and $29 a month keeps the service contract going.
