Mountain View, California-based Listrunner has raised half a million dollars in seed funding to further develop a platform that should ease communication between teams of doctors in the hospital. Although EHRs are commonplace nowadays, patient lists are still being printed out from the EHR or in worse cases being manually entered in a spreadsheet or written down on paper for everyday practice and handovers.

The main components of the app are patient summaries, updates, and task lists. The system integrates with hospital electronic health platforms from Epic, Cerner, and McKesson. Clinical data are encrypted and stored on a central server which makes it available it in real-time to any connected computer, phone, or tablet with a browser. The app works on iOS and Android, and keeps working while out of reach of Wifi. It is of course HIPAA compliant.

The app should reduce paperwork while at the same time reducing the chance of medical errors caused by miscommunication during hand-offs. A basic free plan with limited features will be available for small teams, as well as paid pro and enterprise plans. The ListRunner app has been released as a private beta version, which is currently being tested in 15 hospitals worldwide.
