The FDA granted the company 510(k) clearance for the UGEO PT60A in August of this year, and the company is now releasing the new tablet-based ultrasound system. As the company’s first diagnostic point-of-care ultrasound , Samsung aims to make it practical for a variety of clinical situations. The touch input device comes equipped with several features, including NeedleMate to accurately identify the needles location, SDMR for sharper image quality with almost no speckle noise, and SCI (Spatial Compounding Image) for better spatial and contrast resolution, all of which is viewed through the 10.1″ LED touchscreen.

The UGEO PT60A also comes with AutoIMT for fast imaging of intima-media thickness of the carotid artery wall to allow physicians to diagnose the patient as quickly as possible. The portability of the UGEO PT60A will also help sports medicine specialist, giving them them mobility to examine an athlete’s injuries essentially on-site.

The system provides a tilting monitor, printer, adjustable probe holder table, and three probe ports. Whether the physician requires a probe for cardiac or OB/GYN application, Samsung also produces phased array, linear, and convex probes to cover many exam types.
