DiaSpect TM Rapid Point-of-Care Hemoglobin Analyzer

EKF Diagnostics, a company based in Cardiff, Wales, has released its new DiaSpect TM point-of-care hemoglobin analyzer. The device provides nearly instant results, doesn’t require pre-calibration, and performs a self-check between every reading.

The battery within the DiaSpect TM works for over a month of regular usage and the device can be connected via USB to recharge the built-in battery. Readings can be transferred to a paired computer via wireless Bluetooth or sent over a wire through its USB port. The microcuvettes used to take samples have a shelf life of 2.5 years and can be stored between freezing and 50° Celsius (122° Fahrenheit).

From the announcement:

DiaSpect Tm is factory calibrated against the HiCN reference method in accordance with ICSH and requires no re-calibration or maintenance, as it undertakes an automatic self-check between every measurement. Its ‘always on’ technology also means the analyzer is permanently ready for use.

The user simply collects a capillary or venous blood sample of <10 µL in the microcuvette and inserts it directly into the analyzer. Hemoglobin results are delivered in just one second which can then be downloaded to a PC via USB or Bluetooth.
