BIOTRONIK received European regulatory approval and is launching its Pantera Pro coronary balloon catheter. The company says that it redesigned the Pro edition of the balloon from scratch, using a new hydrophilic coating and a smaller profile of the distal guide wire support section. According to the press release, the new features offer an “improv[ed] performance during kissing balloon technique and reduc[ed] friction within the vessel by up to 43% compared to competitors.”

The new refinements we hope will provide surgeons the ability to cross difficult lesions with greater ease. Indeed, in initial procedures, physicians reported an improved experience in 68% of cases using the Pantera Pro compared to other semi-compliant balloons.

The device is available in diameters 1.25 to 4.0 mm and of lengths between 6 mm and 30 mm.
