Brainlab and Elekta have combined their efforts to create a new highly accurate radiation oncology system. The first patients have already received treatment using the combination of ExacTrac positioning system with the Elekta Versa HD linear accelerator at the Ludwig-Maximilian University Hospital in Munich.
While the Elekta Versa HD provides a highly precise delivery of radiation, the ExacTrac makes sure the patient is positioned accurately to absorb the dose. The system continuously monitors internal patient motion using stereoscopic X-rays, making sure that the accelerometer delivers radiation to the target with submillimeter precision.
