Omron - Body Fat Scale (model HBF-200)

Omron Healthcare launches Body Fat Scale (model HBF-200) to measure visceral fat, a significant indicator of heart disease and diabetes.

A growing body of research suggests that visceral fat—deep underlying fat in the abdomen surrounding a person’s vital organs—may be a greater predictor of heart disease and diabetes than just weight or body mass index (BMI).

While paying attention to waist size is important, it is very difficult to measure the amount of visceral fat a person has with just a measuring tape and regular scale.  That’s why Omron’s new body fat scale is designed to specifically calculate the amount of this hidden fat, which researchers at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions have found to be the most likely to increase heart attack risk.

Losing weight could be a result of losing water, body fat or even muscle. The best way to achieve and maintain a sexy silhouette is by losing body fat through exercise. Use Omron Body Fat Scale HBF-200 to help you keep track of the milestones in achieving your goals.

HBF-200 does not only measures visceral fat, but resting metabolism and body fat—helpful indicators when determining appropriate calorie intake and amount of exercise.  Another unique feature is the *body age display, which gives a guide as to how one’s metabolic age compares with one’s actual age. This helps the user to work towards improving his well-being. A person’s resting metabolism, or amount of calories burnt daily through normal activity, often decreases with age.

HBF-200 also takes more common measurements such as weight and BMI to help users plan proactive steps towards better health.

It works using the Bioelectrical Impedance (BI) method which sends an extremely weak electrical current through the body to determine the amount of body fat.

Other useful features include a four-person profile memory for easy reference in tracking progress for all family members. This product has also won the International iF Design Award 2009, an achievement for a Body Fat Scale.

  • *Knowing one’s  Body Age

Body Age indication is based on one’s resting metabolism and is used as a guide to one’s metabolic age. It is calculated from your resting metabolism while the latter is calculated by combining your weight, body fat percentage and skeletal muscle percentage to produce a guide as to whether your body age is above or below the average for your actual age. To know one’s Body Age is useful to improve one’s wellbeing.
