I would like to extend a warm welcome to all exhibitors and visitors to the 15th and lastest edition of the SE-Asian Healthcare and Pharma Show. SEACare is reputed to be the biggest and most established event for the healthcare industry in SE-Asia. Thus, it is indeed a great achievement that SEACare is once again at the fore-front in endeavours to highlight the excellent business opportunities that are available in the Southeast Asian region. My sincere appreciation to the organisers, for inviting me to pen a few words in conjunction with this event.

The Ministry of Health Malaysia has been pursuing the noble goals of "Health for All Malaysians" in its mission to produce a healthy Malaysian population that is highly productive and enjoys good quality of life. In addition, healthcare has been identified as one of the Key Economic growth areas by the Government of Malaysia, in its efforts to transform the country into a developed nation by the year 2020. Health Tourism is also becoming a key growth area for Malaysia, which is becoming increasingly popular for its high quality, affordable health care.

Due to concerted efforts of the Federal government in providing a conducive environment for businesses and innovators to flourish, Malaysia is proud to be amongst the regional and even global leaders in the production of medical disposable products. Malaysia is also fast developing as a major manufacturer of hospital equipment as well as hospital furniture. The medical devices industry is indeed opening up exciting business opportunities for Malaysia in particular and ASEAN in general.

Kuala Lumpur, with its extensive distribution networks for medical equipment and pharmaceuticals and having established solid business links within the ASEAN region, is indeed an indeal venue for this international event, opening up new opportunities and export markets. I am pleased to be informed that this year, we will be joined by international exhibitors from the People's Republic of China, Germany, India, Italy, Korea, Taiwan, as well as the United States.

This is indeed a feather in the cap for the organisers of this Show, as it is testimony to their untiring efforts to make Kuala Lumpur the preferred venue for health care exhibitions such as this. It is also a reflection of the confidence of the international business community in the capability of Kuala Lumpur to host an event of this stature.

In conclusion, I would like to wish all of you every success in your endeavours and look forward to welcoming you again in the future.
