Munich – Every year, the "Welt Group" publishes a ranking of the top 500 German companies and awards a prize to three outstanding businesses. This year, TÜV SÜD won the bronze medal in the Top 500 Award as 'fastest-growing company'.
The silver medal goes to medical devices company B. Braun Melsungen – and this year's gold winner is Fresenius. Cooperating with consulting firm Accenture, the "Welt Group" presents this award to honour companies which have delivered consistent profitable growth over the past five years.
Dr Axel Stepken, Chairman of the Board of Management, emphasizes: "This award is a great recognition of all members of TÜV SÜD. The accolade also confirms that our strategy has set us on the right path, and serves as an incentive to continue on this path of success in the coming years."
At the award ceremony which took place at the Springer Journalist Club in Berlin, the jury explained its decision to honour TÜV SÜD for its successful international expansion and as a provider of innovative technical services. The jurors were very impressed by the continuous rise of TÜV SÜD from a business not even represented among 2005's top 500 German companies to its rank of 388th place today.
The Top 500 Award only considers companies that are included in the current ranking of the 500 biggest companies in Germany and that, in addition, have increased their sales revenue and achieved a positive result for each of the last five years. Out of these companies, the high-profile jury nominated a total of 20 and ultimately chose three winners.
The Top 500 Award follows on from a string of prizes that TÜV SÜD won last year. In February 2011, for example, the company scooped Roland Berger's "Best of European Business" award and its Annual Report won the renowned red dot design award as one of the best publications worldwide.
