PUTRAJAYA: A new health director-general may be appointed this week, said Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Dr Ali Hamsa.
The post felt vacant following the demotion of Datuk Seri Dr Hasan Abdul Rahman last year.
Dr Hasan was demoted by one grade following his khalwat case in November.
The post requires its holder to be on the Medical Officer Staff II Main Grade scale. Dr Ali said the post could be filled by one of the three deputy directors-general.
The three deputy directors-general listed in the Health Ministry website are Datuk Dr Lokman Hakim Sulaiman (Public Health), Datuk Dr Maimunah A. Hamid (Research and Technical Support) and Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (Medical).
