Penang’s first dialysis centre to open soon

BALIK Pulau folk in Penang will benefit from the opening of a CAT Dialysis Centre located in the constituency’s market complex. The centre is also believed to be the first state-run dialysis centre in the country.

B. Braun Medical Industries Sdn Bhd has sponsored about 10 dialysis machines and other medical equipment to the centre.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the patients would be charged only RM110 per session.

He added the dialysis centre would be supervised by consultant nephrologist Dr Chen Tse Peng.

“We want to look after the people from the rural areas irrespective of their backgrounds,” he said.

He was speaking during the presentation of the dialysis machines by B. Braun at the centre recently.

In the beginning, only five of the machines will be operational.

The centre will be ready pending approval from the Health Ministry.

B. Braun operations/supply chain senior vice-president Yenni Lim said the company wished to give the people the best they could in terms of healthcare.
