PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak urged Malaysians, especially the Y-generation, to get out from their sedentary lifestyle for the sake of their health.
He made the call as he was worried to see more and more Malaysians were suffering from diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
"The long hours spent in front of the computer screens and sitting down while engaging with their smartphones and tablets will be susceptible to such illnesses including obesity too.
"My doctor even tells me that many of us are suffering from hypertension too," he said before joining thousands for a 5-km walk under the Jom Ceria with the PM today.
Also present were the prime minister's wife Datin Seri Rosmah and Sports and Youth Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.
Najib urged Malaysians especially the younger generation to improve their lifestyle through exercise activities like what had been done under the Jom Ceria programme.
