KUALA LUMPUR: Prince Court Medical Center has been named as the top medical tourism destination in the world by the Medical Travel Quality Alliance (MTQUA).
PCMC chief executive officer Dr Chong Su Lin said the hospital’s revenue from medical tourism had increased over the years.
“Back in 2011, we made RM511 million followed by RM584 million in 2012. Considering the progress of the local medical facilities, we are looking to reach a revenue of RM630 million this year,” she said.
Chong said the hospital was selected for the award based on its facilities and services provided.
“Patients need not worry about transportation. We even have a lounge at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport where patients can wait to be picked up by our staff.
“In addition to that we have a concierge and world class medical facilities,” she said.
Chong said that considering the recent conflicts faced by the hospital, the award had uplifted the spirit of the staff.
“This award is the result of each and every staff here - the doctors, nurses, the operators of various outlets here and even the taxi drivers who bring the patients to the hospital,” she said.
On another note, Chong said that the hospital would be displaying artworks at the hospital to aid in the healing of the patients.
“According to the World Health Organisation, there is evidence that engagement or observation of art or artistic activities can enhance one’s mood and emotions, eventually impacting important physiological parameters in a positive way,” she said.
“Some 25 artworks by Sir Roy Calne titled ‘The art of Giving’ were the first to be displayed, eventually motivating local artists to come forward with their works.”
She said currently the display includes paintings by Norhayati Yusoff which were earlier displayed at the Petronas gallery.
“There will also be oil paintings by artists Jake Goh and photographs by our own anaesthesiologist Dr Syed Rozaidi Wafa,” she added.
