SIME Darby Healthcare group has established its third full-fledged hospital to cater to the citizens of the north-west of Kuala Lumpur.
Nestled at the juncture of growing townships Bandar Manjalara and Desa Park City, the RM330mil multi-disciplinary hospital provides state-of-the-art facilities for its patients.
Hospital director Ch’ng Lin Ling said SDMC PC aimed to be the regional centre of excellence for women, children and the elderly.
“SDMC coveres primary to mid-tertiary care and services and we focus more on the health of women, children and the elderly.
“Desa Park City is fast developing and the area lacks a medical centre.
“The hospital caters for the densely populated residential neighbourhood around its vicinity which includes areas in Kepong, Damansara and Bandar Utama,” she said while touring the medical centre with the media.
The private healthcare facility, which opened on Dec 12 last year, offers full inpatient and outpatient medical-surgical services, advanced diagnostics and 24-hour emergency services.
One of the highlights of the hospitals is the succesfully-implemented, fully digitised Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) which seeks to provide better clinical management and patient services while creating an efficient and effective workflow for doctors and caregivers.
With this system in place, all hospitals under Sime Darby will soon have an integrated system, whereby they will apply Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system to store patients’ data.
It will digitally record patients’ illnesses as well as medical history and the data will be shared with two other medical centres, namely SMDC Ara Damansara and SMDC Subang Jaya.
The 545,000 sq ft building, which sits on 2ha of land, includes a four-and-a-half-storey car park block.
A courtyard garden adorned with lush greenery and a playground has been built in the building for patients.
“The hospital’s concept reduces carbon-footprint and the windows which surround the courtyard allow natural light to enter the facility,” Ch’ng said.
For women’s healthcare, SDMC PC is equipped with low-dose digital mammogram with tomosynthesis and stereotactic biopsy that enables better localisation of the lesion within the breast with multiple layers imaging.
There are also child-friendly portable X-ray machines as well as fully-equipped simulation rooms for children.
In general, the hospital has 300 beds, 57 clinic suites with full inpatient and outpatient services, as well as six operating theaters and delivery rooms and three endoscopy suites.
SDMC PC is expected to be officially launched in the third quarter of this year.
Moving forward, Ch’ng is looking into firming up the medical centre as well as aggressively making more visual appearances in the public.
“We are planning on setting up health booths for the public as well as working with child centres to conduct health checks.
“The hospital will be a one-stop centre for patients to seek medical treatment.
“With full-fledged hospital facilities and the decentralised departments, we are offering new experiences for the patients.
“Currently, we have 42 doctors and 162 nurses on board with an average of 2,000 patients per month.
“We are targeting 80% occupancy at our hospital and we are optimistic that we will achieve it,” she said.
SMDC PC is located at 2, Jalan Intisari Perdana, Desa ParkCity, Kuala Lumpur.
