Malaysia healthcare costs less than in other countries

Malaysia’s Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam.says that healthcare in the country is still cheaper than in other countries despite rising costs. “The increase in healthcare cost is a global phenomenon and comparatively, Malaysia’s is still cheaper and this is why patients from other countries are seeking treatment here,” he says. However, he also reminds that while the country maintains lower healthcare costs, there will be factors that may arise, such as technology advancements and production, which are beyond control, and thus could push the costs up in time. However, Subramaniam said the majority of Malaysians are receiving subsidised healthcare with government hospitals, which are treating an estimated two million patients a year.
