Malaysians told to lead healthier lifestyle

KUALA LUMPUR - Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam urged Malaysians to lead a healthier lifestyle in 2014. "We must imbue the need to live healthily so that we could be strong to take care of our loved ones," he said in his 2014 New Year message.

He also called on the people to unite under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Barisan Nasional to meet 2014 challenges.

Meanwhile, Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri G. Palanivel hoped enforcement to eradicate wildlife smuggling and poaching, and illegal logging an open burning would be stepped up.

"I hope all departments under the ministry will jointly enforce all regulations to ensure that Cameron Highlands stays as a popular highland tourism centre," he said.

He also urged all departments under his ministry involved in eco-tourism to ensure that national parks, marine parks, forests and other eco-attractions were well maintained and preserved in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia Year 2014.
