PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry is going to charge foreigners the full cost of medical bill soon.
Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said he expected it would be carried out in few months time.
 
"Foreigners currenlyt only have to pay between 60 and 70 per cent of medical cost (when they seek treatment at the government medical facilities)," he told reporters after attending the ministry's monthly gathering today.
 
He said the ministry also planned to inform local patients of the full cost of their medical bill.
 
"For the locals they do not have to pay the full cost and the government still bear between 97 and 98 per cent of their medical bill at government hospitals and clinics.
 
"We just want to inform them of the actual cost involved so that they will be informed and appreciate what they have benefitted," he added.
