SIBU: St John Ambulance Malaysia is more than willing to go into schools if there is a need for it. Its commander-in-chief, Dato Dr Low Bin Tick, said St John Ambulance is a good uniform group for students to join.
“It’s an organisation recognised globally,” he enthused, reiterating that St John Ambulance Malaysia was always ready to form school units.
Dr Low was speaking on Thursday at a dinner held in conjunction with the commissioning of a new wing of St John Ambulance Malaysia Haemodialysis Centre here.
The new wing is named Kawasan Pantai Selangor.
“The name St John Ambulance or better known as ‘St John’ is synonymous with First Aid and other humanitarian services all over the world.
“As the leading First Aid organisation in Malaysia since 1908, St John’s Ambulance Malaysia has been rendering first aid and home nursing services to the needy in almost all public and private events throughout the country,” he added.
St John Ambulance Malaysia is a self-funding and non-profit organisation which has 60,000 volunteers presently.
“Our volunteers are serving the nation sincerely, regardless of race, culture and creed and always carry the motto, ‘For the Service of Mankind,’” Dr Low said.
Among those present at the dinner were Sibu Resident Sim Kok Kee, St John Ambulance Malaysia Selangor state commander Dato Yeo Kim Thong and Penghulu Chua Hiong Kee.
