KPJ Perlis Hospital To Open Mid-2015

PUTRAJAYA: KPJ Healthcare Bhd expects its 26th hospital in Perlis to be ready by the middle of next year.

KPJ managing director Amiruddin Abdul Satar said the 125-bed hospital holds huge potential as it is set to attract medical tourists from the northern region, such as Thailand and Bangladesh.

“Medical tourism is growing and this will augur well for the group,” said Amiruddin on the sidelines of the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority progress report, here, yesterday.

Also present at the function were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Amiruddin said the RM60 million Perlis hospital is part of KPJ’s RM1 billion capital expenditure over the next five years to build nine hospitals.

Other than Perlis, two hospitals will be built in Kuantan and Johor Baru.

The others may be built in Miri, Malacca, Port Dickson and Klang.

“We are busy building capacities to cater for future increase in medical tourists,” said Amiruddin.

KPJ is Malaysia’s largest private healthcare provider with a market share of 25 per cent.

KPJ is controlled by Johor Corp, which is the investment arm of the Johor state government.
