Let's Become Best Healthcare Services Provider - Najib

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has called for Malaysia to become the best country in offering healthcare services.

"We're already 3rd best in the world for healthcare services, but let's aim for the best!," he said in his Twitter account yesterday.

Najib also provided a link to a Bernama news report on the implementation of four new projects under the national key economic area (NKEA) for health care to provide more comprehensive healthcare services to the people as well as to boost the national economy.

The new projects are entry point projects on medical devices and wellbeing of senior citizens.

Early this year, a study by the American publication International Living had rated Malaysia's healthcare system as the third best out of 24 countries in its 2014 Global Retirement Index.

According to the index, released by the Baltimore-based magazine, Malaysia's healthcare scored 95 out of a possible 100 points, for offering the best and affordable services.

The top two countries, France and Uruguay, scored 97 and 96 points respectively.

Meanwhile, Najib also congratulated national cartoonist Datuk Mohammad Khalid or popularly known as 'Lat' for his graphic novel, 'Kampung Boy' being translated into the Japanese language.

"This is great. How do we say 'Kampung Boy' in Japanese? Congrats Datuk Lat!," Najib tweeted.

The Kampung Boy in Japanese is among the publications that Malaysia will display at the 21st Tokyo International Book Fair (TIBF) in Japan from July 2 to 5.
