MALACCA: Oriental Malacca Straits Medical Centre (OMSMC) — officially open its new hospital to provide medical in the southern region here. The hospital has escalator facility where patients need no longer rush and share packed lifts with medical staff and visitors.

The unveiling of Oriental Malacca Straits Medical Centre (OMSMC) here has been welcomed by locals and foreigners to obtain more comfortable and effective medical care with a comfortable surrounding and ample parking space.

The RM200mil OMSMC also boost a state-of-the-art facilities and promises a friendly service.

With its bold and unorthodox facade the OMSMC looks like a five-star prestigious private medical centre.

OMSMC’s deputy chief executive officer Dr Tan Hui Ling said their vision was to be the leader for value-based, high-quality healthcare in the region.

“We are committed wholeheartedly to meet the needs of every patient for an added value to each one individually, by providing quality healthcare for better health,” she said.

“Since we opened the doors to receive patients two weeks ago, more than 12 babies were born and various surgeries have been performed including brain, spinal and knee replacement surgery using advanced techniques and equipments,” she added.

OMSMC is a 300-bedded, fully integrated multi-disciplinary specialist centre located at the Klebang, Malacca.

The medical centre is proud of providing facilities such as nine operating theatres, diagnostic and interventional imaging services, dialysis and rehabilitation centre’s and many more.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron said he was made to understand that OMSMC has a five year strategic plan to have an employment of 800 professionals and non-professionals.

“This is in fact in line with the state government’s effort to provide high-valued jobs under the economic transformation programme,” said Idris.

He further added that due to the availability of high quality professional medical care by professional medical practitioners, coupled with reasonable charges, the number of patients who have come from Indonesia to seek treatment here has increased to a total of more than 80,000 between January and October last year.

“The addition OMSMC will for sure enhance our health tourism sector as the best place to get quality and affordable medical treatments in this part of the region,” he added.
