New Hospital To Take Off

PASIR GUDANG - The Govern­ment’s decision to build a new hospital in Pasir Gudang will benefit 300,000 residents who have been waiting for the past five years for a health facility.

Pasir Gudang MP Normala Abdul Samad hoped the project would take offf soon as there was an existing 20.23ha site in Bandar Seri Alam which has identified for a public hospital.

The RM150mil hospital project, was announced during the tabling of the 11th Malaysia Plan on Thursday.

The hospital is expected to be equipped with 150 beds.

Seri Alam Properties Sdn Bhd general manager Frankie Tan Kiat How said the new hospital would benefit residents in Pasir Gudang, Bandar Seri Alam and other nearby areas.

He added that the land, in Jalan Gunung, was given to the government for the hospital project, early this year. Former Johor Jaya Assembly­man Tan Cher Puk said he was thankful that the Federal government had approved the application since the project had been mentioned in 2010.

When asked about the construction period, he said it would take three years to complete.

“Upon the completion, it will benefit local residents and residents from Bandar Penawar and Pengerang as it will be the nearest hospital to them to seek medical treatment,” he added.

Currently, people in Pasir Gudang seek treatment at the Sultan Ismail Hospital in Pandan or Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Baru.
