TOKYO - Hoya Group PENTAX Medical launches Splash M-Knife, the new multi-functional ESD device to achieve complete endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) with a single device. The new device will be demonstrated in the 89th Annual Meeting of the Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society (JGES) Congress to be held in Nagoya, Japan from May 29-31.
Flexible endoscopes have been developed to be used in minimally invasive treatment procedures in combination with therapeutic devices. ESD is a procedure invented in Japan more than 10 years ago — and the techniquie is growing worldwide for its clinical and financial benefits contributing in early recovery, reduced complexities and costs.
According to the manufacturer, Splash M-Knife achieves clear marking, better hemostasis and smoother and easier operation during a procedure without replacing the knife. A disk in the knife helps hooking up the tissue for improved safety and ease of cutting, while metal plate that closes the knife for clear marking and better hemostasis.
