KPJ allocates RM300m yearly for capex

KPJ Healthcare Bhd will be allocating RM300 million yearly for capital expenditure (capex) to expand its business operations.

President and managing director Datuk Amirudffin Abdul Satar said the expenditure would be used to develop its operations and to build new hospitals.

"The capex of RM200 million to RM300 million a year is in line with our current business expansion," he told reporters after the healthcare provider's annual general meeting (AGM) here yesterday.

Also present was JCorp president and chief executive Datuk Kamaruzzaman Abu Kassim. Amiruddin said two new hospitals, KPJ Batu Pahat Specialist Hospital and KPJ Miri Specialist Hospital, will be opened this year.

"KPJ Batu Pahat just received its certificate of completion and compliance (CCC) and the licence in three or four months' time, while KPJ Miri just received its Occupational Permit (OP).

"We expect the hospitals will be opened in the third or fourth quarter of the year, as both buildings are fully completed. All that remains to be done are recruiting the staff and doctors," he said.
