Notion VTec Bhd (NVB) will be venturing into the production, including the sales and marketing, of personal protective equipment, as well as the production of components related to medical ventilators in light of the Covid-19 outbreak and increasing demand for these products in the healthcare industry.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the group said the new business would be in addition to the group’s core business of supplying high quality and precision-machined components.

“The company has placed orders for the production machinery. Subject to the approval being obtained from all the relevant authorities, the production is expected to be commenced by the end of May 2020 in the company’s main factory,” NVB said.

The products would be sold in local markets, it noted.

“The new business is expected to have a positive impact on the earnings and net asset per share of the group for the financial year ending Sept 30,2020,” NVB said.
