Welch Allyn Partners with Kansas Academy of Family Physicians

Consulting program designed to ease transition to electronic health record keeping

Welch Allyn, a leading global manufacturer of frontline medical products and solutions, recently signed a business affiliation agreement with the Kansas Academy of Family Physicians (KAFP). The partnership has been formed to provide members of the Wichita-based not-for-profit organization with a unique program designed to aid physicians in selecting and preparing for an electronic health record (EHR) system.

KAFP will collaborate with Welch Allyn to introduce the new EHR Prep-Select™ service to its members. The professional consulting program systematically guides physician practices through the complex EHR preparation and selection process by offering an optimal mix of expert consulting, an easy-to-follow 10-step project plan, and an intuitive online tool that addresses the challenges associated with selecting an EHR vendor.

"The transition to an EHR system is a daunting task," said Jay Mangicaro, senior category manager, Integrated Partners, at Welch Allyn. "The Welch Allyn EHR Preparation and Selection program offers a comprehensive, yet simplified solution to the difficult selection process by placing a strong focus on preparation and planning prior to formal evaluation and selection. This partnership with the Kansas Academy of Family Physicians has opened the door for KAFP members who are looking for a better way to make the EHR transition."

Beyond easy access to EHR Prep-Select through the KAFP web site, KAFP and Welch Allyn will be collaborating on a number of marketing initiatives designed to introduce and educate family physicians on the value of the new program.  In addition, members referred to Welch Allyn by KAFP will be eligible for special pricing on all of the Welch Allyn EHR Prep-Select program services.

"Kansas Academy of Family Physicians has members in practices ranging in size from solo practice to large groups," said Carolyn Gaughan, executive director of KAFP. "This partnership with Welch Allyn will offer the same affordable opportunity to all of our members who are eager to make a smooth transition to an EHR."
