Brandon Medical share £90m prize

HSBC and the Daily Telegraph have joined forces to create a multi-million pound enterprise to aid UK businesses in foreign markets. Funding will be available to help businesses seize advantage of new opportunities, secure funding and gain access to some of the world leaders in business mentoring. Brandon Medical are one of 53 regional finalists from across the UK competing to win a share of the £90m prize being offered by the HSBC "Business Thinking Initiative".

The 53 businesses took part in a survey by the Sunday Telegraph, 37% of which said that better access to finance would be the main factor in increasing foreign market share. These businesses have been awarded networking opportunities in Asia, Europe and the Americas to introduce them to business leaders and entrepreneurs in a "Thought Exchange." Regional finalists, Brandon Medical, already export 20% of their production and are working to double their export sales over the next three years. Funding provided by the initiative will benefit the business by helping them achieve their objectives.

As reward for becoming a regional finalist, Brandon Medical has won an all expenses paid networking opportunity in Mexico. Adrian Hall, Operations Director at Brandon Medical, will attend, along with Noel Quinn, Head of Commercial Finance at HSBC. Mr Hall commented: "It is a real testament to Brandon's recent success that we have been shortlisted for this funding. The trip to Mexico presents a great opportunity for us to explore the potential of the American markets and we will certainly reap the benefits presented to us by the HSBC Business Thinking Initiative and further boost our future international prosperity."
