Hamburg–Weinmann and RespiMedic have been joint Partners for the Malaysian region since 2009 and have now enhanced their exclusive partnership on the release of the new products coming to the market.

Weinmann has long since aimed for a bigger partnership in the region of Malaysia. With RespiMedic it has established a relationship that matches its own philosophy of a qualitative market apporach: innovation and quality being the groundwork of a longterm relationship.
According to its mssion and brand philosophy, the brand promise at Weinmann is build on 5 core values: supporting a “Made in Germany” overall management approach, striving for ever-better quality, understanding the customer needs’, being a reliable partner, and a family-run, personal business.
In its Business Unit Homecare the focus lies on home mechanical ventilation, for hospital and home use, and its supporting technologies. The latest high-tech presented to the market completes this range of ventilation products. From simple bilevel therapy to life-supporting ventilation, Weinmann now offers an appropriate device for all areas of usage and indications. In addition, it incorporates new innovative developments, which will make the appliance and therapy even more safe and comfortable for the patient.
Four products are at the core of the portfolio:
- VENTIlogic LS– invasive and non-invasive life-support ventilation with single or double patient circuit and patient valve
- VENTIlogic plus– invasive and non-invasive intermittent ventilation with LIAM cough support and trigger lockout
- VENTIlogic– intelligent non-invasive intermittent ventilation
- VENTImotion 2– non-invasive intermittent ventilation with greatest therapy comfort and improved ventilation quality, particularly for COPD patients.
"We have rounded out our portfolio in home mechanical ventilation" said Florian Krickl, director for home ventilation and oxygen medicine at Weinmann. "With our range of devices we can cover nearly all indications and make complete care of the patient possible." For example VENTIlogic LS – LS stands for "Life Support" – has an integrated rechargeable battery that allows the device's use for life-sustaining treatment. All hose systems (leakage circuits, single and double patient circuits with patient valve) can be used with VENTIlogic LS. Because the device is so similar to other Weinmann devices in the VENTI line, accessories are compatible and the operating concept is nearly identical. "Our concept makes operation easier for the user and ensures an extra measure of safety," Krickl said. Fields of usage range from intermittent self-venti-lation to continuous life-sustaining ventilation 24 hours per day.
New: AirTrap Control
An innovative feature that Weinmann calls "AirTrap Control" finds its first application ever in VENTImotion 2. It eases exhalation for the patient while preventing dynamic hyperinflation and overinflation of the lungs. Patients with obstructive disorders are often unable to exhale completely before the next inspiration phase begins. Consequently, the tidal volume available to the lungs decreases and intrinsic PEEP (Positive End Expiratory Pressure) increases. With activated AirTrap Control, the ventilator automatically recognizes the situation and responds accordingly. It reduces the ventilation rate but holds back the inspiration period so that the patient has more time to exhale and gradually increases the tidal volume to its normal level.
New: Trigger lockout prevents false inspiration detection
Trigger artefacts frequently occur in patients with obstructions, particularly at the beginning of the expiration phase due to instability in the patient's airways or other related disorders. Attempts have been made to suppress erroneous triggering by setting the inspiration trigger to be less sensitive. A low sensitivity setting, however, significantly increases the work of breathing for the already weakened patients and can therefore compromise therapy efficiency. A simple but effective solution is the function "trigger lockout", also incorporated into VENTImotion 2. At the beginning of the expiration phase, the inspiration trigger is temporarily blocked so that the patient can exhale before the next inspiration phase is triggered. A very sensitive trigger can be set; the patient can breathe easily and conserve his strength. Errors in the detection of inspiration are avoided. Inspiration and expiration are synchronized to a better degree and compliance is greatly improved.
New: volume compensation at three different speeds
With a third innovative feature, adjustable volume compensation, Weinmann offers the patient a variable speed to achieve therapeutically ideal tidal volume. Depending on the patient's condition and doctor's orders, the speed (slow – moderate – fast) is set at which tidal volume is reached and then precisely maintained.
"This feature guarantees tidal volume stability and reliability," said Mr. Krickl. "At the same time the setting can be adjusted to the patient and his specific needs. Given the potential to individualize treatment with a therapy device like VENTImotion 2, we see improvements in therapy compliance and an increase in th
