Agfa HealthCare, a leading provider of diagnostic imaging and healthcare IT solutions, announces today that its CR 35-X and CR 85-X computed radiography (CR) digitizers, combined with the company's CR MM3.0 mammography plates, received Mammographic Type Test certification by EUREF, the European Reference Organisation for Quality Assured Breast Screening and Diagnostic Services. This certification is the first of its kind for a CR Full Field Digital Mammography provider and supports Agfa HealthCare's dedication to this important specialty, backed by over 3000 mammography installations around the world.

Promoting standards to meet the quality standards for image quality, dose and stability

EUREF is a pan-European, not-for-profit organization whose mission is to promote European standards for breast cancer screening and care. Its certifications give healthcare providers confidence that the solutions and products tested meet the quality standards for image quality, dose and stability.

Agfa HealthCare solutions pass rigorous testing

Agfa HealthCare's CR 35-X is a very versatile, small-footprint digitizer, while the CR 85-X is a multi-user, multi-application digitizer. Used with the CRMM 3.0 dedicated storage phosphor plate for diagnostic mammography applications, each provides increased sharpness, for excellent image quality.

Both solutions passed EUREF's physico-technical and clinical tests, demonstrating that they meet the rigorous quality control requirements for the physical and technical aspects of mammography screening, and perform reliably in a screening environment. The testing process took three months.

Offering a cost-effective move to digital

"We are pleased and proud with the EUREF certification in Europe," comments Dirk Debusscher, Vice President Imaging at Agfa HealthCare. "We are committed to offering the highest standards, in our CR and in our mammography solutions. Importantly, our digitizers can be used for both mammography and general radiography. So we are confident they fulfill our customers' needs for a cost-efficient way to transform from analog to digital."
