IPOH: KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital is supporting the environmental cause through its "Go Green to Save Mother Nature!" campaign.
Hospital staff and visitors are encouraged to develop eco-friendly habits such as recycling.
To promote responsible waste management, it is providing a recycle bin which separates paper, glass and aluminium waste products, at the hospital lobby.
Hospital chief executive officer Asmadi Mohd Bakri said he hoped staff and visitors would not hesitate to start recycling and pick up other "green" habits.
"We are planning to carry out more green programmes to increase awareness of and stress the importance of reducing waste in the environment through the practice of recycling," he said after launching the campaign with hospital director Dr Luis Chen Shian Liang recently.
Asmadi said that other initiatives included a no-styrofoam-and-plastic day on Saturdays.
"We also plan to organise recycling competitions and awareness training for staff," he said.
Some 100 staff members also took part in a gotong-royong to clean up the hospital grounds after the launch of the campaign.
